What IS Reiki

REIKI The secret art of inviting happiness. The miraculous medicine of all diseases.

Reiki is sometimes hard to explain because it is so simple and delicate. Yet, it provides such a deep and powerful healing on all levels -- spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically -- that transcends intellectual understanding., and thought Reiki has been easily described as "a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing," as ICRT states, it truly cannot be diminished to just this.

Equated to the hands-on healing that Christ was known to give, as well as many other spiritual healers throughout our known history, it was brought forward in our modern time (late 1920s) as a traditionally formalized method by  Dr. Mikao Usui, who is labeled as Reiki's Founder, and to whom most Reiki practices root back to.

Reiki is a gentle, natural form of spiritual healing that anyone can learn, and which can easily work hand-in-hand with medical and therapeutic techniques, often enhancing greater comfort from pain relief and speeding recovery processes. Reiki is known to help with virtually every known medical, mental, emotional, and spiritual malady, and is one of the best preventative health practices available.

Anyone can learn Reiki, it is that simple of a technique. However, Reiki is taught in perhaps a more alternative way than traditional medicines. The Reiki can only be transferred to a student during a  Reiki training during  the "attunement" given by a Reiki Master/Teacher. This attunement process opens and aligns the student with this highest life-force healing energy, placing it into their crown chakras, moving it through their body and into their hands.

Reiki's use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

Reiki is not a religion, and therefore, no one need join a church or even prescribe to a Reiki tradition or organization for that matter, as Reiki is a gift of the Universe... a gift from God, Goddess, All That IS, and those open-minded enough to recognize it and open and align to it become recipients of it. In fact, the truth of the matter is no one man or woman are responsible for it, nor own it, nor even are masters of it... WE ALL OUR!

Because Reiki is such a high vibration, practitioners or receivers of Reiki on a regular basis, tend to find they are living a more spiritual life; their thinking and mental/emotional well-being becomes grounded and centered, while their physical body becomes strengthened and balanced.

In recognizing the more spiritual side of Reiki, Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Usui Reiki Ryoho system of natural healing, recommended that one practice daily a very simple prayer, called The Gassho Meditation, that promoted harmony and peace with all people. This daily practice centers us on what has now become termed as  The Reiki Ideals or Principals.

How Reiki Works

The Reiki practitioner places their hands  gently on the body (some above the body) and begins the Reiki energy flow. Often the Reiki is desscribed as being felt as hot, cold, vibration, pressure, heaviness, butterflies, and even sharp stab.. Sometimes, nothing is felt at all but that does not mean the Reiki is not flowing. Most receivers of Reiki fall into such a deep, peaceful state of natural relaxtion almost as if they are on the verge of sleep, while others fall into a light peaceful sleep. I have had clients undergo visions during the treatment and travel to other worlds and dimensions.

Because Reiki is an energy it flows into the body along pathways called merridians and will unblock areas of built-up emotional energy, some might call "ki" or "Qui". Removing the excessive build-up of ki in the body allows the life-force to begin to flow naturally, thus eliminating aches and pains, nourishing vital organs, and allowing the body systems to regulate properlly.

A typical private Reiki treatment lasts approximately 1 hour hour. Kisma personally uses other healing techniques in her practice such as flower essences, crystals & gem stones, vibrational and tonal, shamanic,  essential oils, auric work, psychic surgury, chakra alignment, and earth aligned traditional healing methods as guided by her Reiki Guides, Spirit Guides, Angels, and Divine connections. However, a traidtional Reiki session will involve a range of hand positions that have become commonly accepted and used by all Reiki traditions. While these traditional hand positions usually follow an order, intuitive variations will occur based on the inner guidance of the practitioner.

While on occassion Kisma will have a session in which her client will sit or stand, normally they will lay down on a massage table for the treatment. Kisma uses only natural light, the gentle sounds of the enviornment and peaceful soothing music, both instrumental, chanting,  in the background.

Each session begins with a client check-in, at which time Kisma will have a brief disccuion with her  client. This check-in process provides  valuable information to formulate the Reiki session intention. All sessions begin and end with a prayer of blessing and gratitude to Mother, Father, God, Goddess, All That Is, which encomposses  different religious and spiritual thought.

The Reiki energy empowers the body to heal itself. Reiki propels personal growth, reduces aches and pains, stress and headaches. Reiki supports health and mood, and helps people achieve real world goals.

The Meaning of the Reiki Kanji

The word "Reiki" [pronounced ray-key] is made of two Japanese words  Rei and Ki.

Rei means "God's Wisdom" or "The Higher Power." The Rei symbol is above the middle line shown in the Japanese kanji.

Ki means "life force energy." The Ki symbol is below the middle line shown in the Japanese kanji.

So the Reiki symbol or kanji means, "Spiritually guided Life Force energy."  It is, perhaps, the God/dess-Wisdom, or Supra-Consciousness called Rei that guides the life energy called Ki in the practice we call Reiki.

The God/dess Light or Life Light of the Universe.
